About Me

Hello! I am a Scrum Master at Shelter Insurance, where I help my teams and our business partners deliver quality code and improve our Claims application. I began my career as a support engineer, and after transferring to a Scrum team I fell in love with the empowerment and efficiency that Agile provided. Now my passion is to spread those values and enable teams to become the best that they can be, and provide maximum value to their organization.


Outside of work, I am a husband and, recently, a father. I love to travel with my wife and daughter, spend time with our dogs, and cook. I believe that being a genuine person is just as important to a team's success as any skillset.

2023-Present

Senior Scrum Master | Shelter Insurance

In my time as Scrum Master, I began taking on more and more responsibilities to provide value upwards to the organization. My teams had hit their stride and I was able to devote time to coaching other Scrum Masters and working on enterprise-wide projects.


  • Continue coaching and leading our Claims teams
  • Help implement Agile best practices and help with enterprise alignment across the organization
  • Lead and facilitate Agile Community of Practice

2020-2023

Scrum Master | Shelter Insurance

In January 2020 when our Scrum Master resigned, I began to fulfill his role while I was still a software engineer. A few months later, I officially became a Scrum Master.


  • Coach Scrum/Agile philosophies to our two Claims teams, facilitate Scrum rituals, and resolve impediments
  • Set up a Jira dashboard and work with stakeholders to provide useful team metrics
  • Foster an environment of continuous improvement
  • Help build engagement among the teams in a newly remote environment

2017-2020

Software Engineer | Shelter Insurance

I began as a support engineer, and when I transitioned to a scrum team I fell in love with the value that Agile provided.


  • Implement new Claims application, new features, and bug fixes after production deployment within an Agile team

Just as I try to coach the value of continuous improvement to my teams, I am also always trying to learn and improve. My education has taken me primarily down the Scrum Alliance path, where I have achieved my CSM, CAL-E, CAL-T, and CAL-O. I also stay up-to-date on current frameworks such as SAFe, although I do not hold an official certification. Other courses, such as Crucial Conversations, allow me to improve my soft skills such as conflict mediation and coaching. To a lesser extent, I also stay active in my technical skills (Java, HTML, SQL, etc) through personal projects.
